Thankful

I know its technically past the "Give Thanks" season but it never hurts to be thankful right? Last night I was laying in bed and after I had said my prayers I was just thinking of all the things I was grateful for. It was unusual as they just came flooding through my mind, I wanted to get up and write them all down, but come on! Like I'm going to get out of my cozy bed. Which bed I am so thankful for! I was watching on the news yesterday as they were filming in Kabul, Afghanistan, all of the horrors and slums they are in. They said every single person who lives there has some sort of PTSD, and the average life expectancy age is 44 years old. Even the young kids faces look old and worn by the stresses of war and life. The drug lords rule the city and kill anyone who speaks against them. Yesterday as I was at work, although I was having a bad "sales" day, the thought of coming home to my warm and funny husband, and my outrageously cute daughter made my heart jump. The thought came to mind, "I have everything I could ever want." That was one of the moments in my life when I felt the richest I have ever been or will be. I'm thankful for big blessings and small blessings, if there is such thing as small blessings. I'm thankful for things that really probably don't matter like cute jeans, chocolate (oh how I love you chocolate), cute winter sweaters, movies... I love that after paying just a few dollars you can go sit in a huge theater and be taken to another world of imagination and vampires. I am thankful for Stephanie Meyers and her wonderful writing ability. LOL But seriously, the things that I am most grateful for are Temples, tithing, family, lds.org, love, prayer, gospel in general, and family.
Matt and I were reading a talk for family night this past week called, "Christmas doesn't come from a store", by Jeffrey R. Holland. It's an awesome talk. My favorite line from it is, "But first and forever there was just a little family, without toys or trees or tinsel. With a baby- that's how Christmas began."
