Potty-Training

I need advice. For about a month now, Addi has shown interest in being potty-trained. So I bought her a "princess potty" as she calls it, so she could get used to the idea a little bit more. The other night, she took off her diaper and went pee in her potty! Then this morning when I was changing her diaper, I said, "If you want to go pee in your potty you can." So she ran over to it and went again! I know I know, I'm so excited... But I don't know what to do from here. Is there a book I should be reading on this? Because she'll usually just go in her diaper unless I'm changing her and tell her to go. I have no idea what to do, never done this before! I don't want to try to force it on her, because I've heard that just prolongs it and makes it worse. Any advice you have or tips would be great!!!

Adam & Leesha Wickern said...: Hey Tar, so I have this friend that has potty trained all 6 of her kids within 2-5 days. Her pediatrician told her that her method was so wonderful that she should write a book on it. She told me what it was briefly, but if you want to know more I will get it from her or you can talk to her. She is so sweet and so easy to talk to. Let me know. Ora said...: This worked for Bailee. Cold turkey no more diapers. I put plastic undies over regular panties to avoid messes on the floor. If she had an accident she just had to wear the wet panties. After a couple very long days she finally caved and decided the potty was better. Not fun but it worked. Didn't work for Trey cause he could care less if his butt was wet but it worked like a miracle for Bailee. The whole thing is no fun. Good luck girl!; October 10, 2010 at 10:09 PM
